Note: BD Affirm VPIII Transport System is required for this test.
Collection Instructions:
1. Insert a swab into vagina and rotate for adequate sampling.
2. Place swab into specimen container.
3. Label specimen container (vial) with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of collection. As the vial is small, it is recommended that the labeled vial be placed into a larger transport tube to submit to the laboratory to reduce risk of vial being misplaced.

The BD AffirmTM VPIII Microbial Identification Test is a DNA probe test intended for use in the detection and identification of Candida species, Gardnerella vaginalis and Trichomonas vaginalis nucleic acid in vaginal fluid specimens from patients with symptoms of vaginitis/vaginosis.
