Methodology
The Roche Elecsys HCG + beta assay recognizes the holo- hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), "nicked" forms of hCG, the beta-core fragment and the free beta-subunit in human serum and plasma.
Additional Information
As with all tests containing monoclonal mouse antibodies, erroneous findings may be obtained from samples taken from patients who have been treated with monoclonal mouse antibodies or have received them for diagnostic purposes.[1] In rare cases, interference due to extremely high titers of antibodies to streptavidin and ruthenium can occur.[1] The test contains additives, which minimize these effects. Results obtained with different test methods or kits cannot be used interchangeably. This assay is intended for the early detection of pregnancy. This test was developed, and its performance characteristics determined, by LabCorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use as a tumor marker.
