DO NOT: Drop off to the Laboratory without an APPOINTMENT.
DO NOT: Drop off to a PDL Patient Service Center.
Time allowance between collection of specimen and delivery to the lab is 30 min.
Collection and delivery to lab must be scheduled to maintain specimen viability.
1. Abstain from ejaculation 2-7 days prior to collection.
2. Use a clean, no additive container.
3. Collect by masturbation only.
4. Collect entire ejaculate into the specimen container (do not use a condom).
5. Avoid use of lubricants and other products that may contaminate the specimen.
6. Label specimen container with:
- Patient’s FULL name
- Date of Birth (DOB)
- Collection Date & Time
7. Keep at body temperature and avoid temperature extremes during transport to the lab.
8. If collected at home, deliver specimen to the Lab within 30 minutes of collection (appointment required).
